Dysport® Injectables

Our face has lots of muscle, which allow us to express our many emotions, as well as eating, swallowing, sneezing ect. These muscles are repeatedly used over time and with environmental factors, like genetics, sun exposure, when you start using skin care or in-clinic treatments ect.  All this results in the appearance of wrinkles and  lines and wrinkles  to occur.

At Bloom, we use Dysport® (botulinum toxin) – the European alternative to Botox – to treat the presence of or  prevent wrinkles and fine lines from forming.  It works by relaxing and softening the muscles in your face or if used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), Dysport® works by  blocking the signals to the sweat glands and less sweat is produced.

FAQ's

Dysport® is an injected medicine, that can help eradicate wrinkles before they form. It has also been clinically proven to work on people who have already developed wrinkles in their skin. It is a medicine that works by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, which in turn leads to fading the appearance of the wrinkles. Treatment to prevent or soften wrinkles typically lasts for 4-6  months.

If you only get Dysport® once or decide to stop the treatment at a point, the results will gradually reduce if you start to use those muscles again and build strength. Dysport® is a temporary muscle relaxant. In order to maintain results we  recommend you repeat the treatment every 4-6 months. Dysport® Is prescribed by a overseeing medical doctor and given by one of our experienced Registered Nurses. Dysport® is also an effective treatment for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) as it blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles, preventing them from contracting and maintaining their shape.

Results begin in 1-2 weeks and last for 4-6 months, depending on your body’s metabolism.  Most patients report improved quality of life and improved confidence after receiving treatment. You will have a 2 week post-procedure follow-up appointment (no charge), during this appointment you may need a further top-up (8$/unit).

These injections are designed to last last around 4 months, depending on how much you take and how your body reacts. Some things that can impact how long they stay effective include: how you live your life, your age, the condition of your skin and amount injected.

Prior to treatment

An initial consultation should also include tips on what to avoid before your Dysport® treatment, such as:

  • Avoid topical creams like retinol, Retin-A, retinoids and acids for 48 hours prior. These products can make your skin more sensitive and cause irritation, but will not affect the integrity of the product.
  • Avoid hair removal products like waxing, tweezing, or bleaching. This can irritate the skin, so it is best to avoid using it on the treatment area for at least 48 hours before the treatment.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol. Due to the chance it may increase the risk of bruising or bleeding (during the procedure), we recommend you stop 48 hrs prior and the night of treatment.

Post-treatment

Dysport® For Mild - Moderate Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that may occur over the entire body or only in certain parts, most commonly the underarms, palms of the hands and soles of the feet.  It tends to start when the patient is a teenager with excessive sweating in certain areas – like under arm sweating and hands, although it can effect the whole body.  This condition is not a serious health issue, but it can be embarrassing, be tricky to manage day to day, significantly effect confidence and cause psychological suffering for the patient.  It is not a condition that is spoken about widely but it is not as uncommon as you may think.
